THIS TRUTH MUST BE TOLD - THE BIAFRA IRONY
The truth about the recent agitation for Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu must be told. Many people of the South East and South South agitating for Biafra today do so not basically because they entirely believe in the Biafra project but because they feel insecure in the present administration's political appointments, economic policies and utterances made by different Northern Leaders and the president himself.
The worst mistake been made by the Buhari government is the neglect of the cries from various quarters on the perceived marginalization of the South East and South South especially in the lopsided appointments made so far by Buhari.
The people feel threatened, they feel insecure, they feel marginalised, they feel unwanted, they feel frustrated, they feel caged and the only ray of hope they see is the brave and unsure assurance sold to them by the voice of Nnamdi Kanu on Radio Biafra.
Buhari may be neglecting these voices probably on advice from some egoistic persons but it is worthy to note that the termite slowly and consistently builds the termitarium to the wonders we see. The uprising seen in the last few days after the news of the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu should be a pointer to what can happen if Buhari fails to make haste while the sun shines. Buhari must as a matter of urgency seize being a Northern President to a Nigerian President who swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nigerians are watching, Africa is watching, the world is watching. These cries, this agitation may lead to the making of a monster that maybe hard to tame. Now is the time to use diplomacy, now is the time to use the tools of democracy so that we don't reach the point where we must use guns.
Man by nature tends to move towards comfort. We are all Nigerians now but remaining a Nigerian depends on whether we perceive Nigeria to be our place of comfort. That depends largely on the leadership.
