70-Year-Old Man Rapes 8-Year-Old Girl In Lagos

Justice Atinuke Ipaye of Lagos High Court in Ikeja ordered to remand imprisonment on a 70-year-old man, Tajudeen Shoneye, who sexually abused an 8-year-old girl for 3 days consecutively.
At the resumed trial a witness, who is a pediatrician with the Gbagada General Hospital, said that the victim was brought to the hospital for a medical check-up in 2013. She recalled that the girl was limping and looked very pale then.

“In June 2013, a little girl was brought to the hospital. She was eight years old. It was in the evening and she came with two female adults. The women told me they were the girl’s teachers in the school and said they were worried with the way she always withdrawn to herself.
“So I examined her medically and discovered that her vagina had bruises and her hymen was broken. This meant she had sexual contact with somebody.”

The  pediatrician added  that she carried out series of test on the victim.
“I asked her to run other tests like urine test and HIV test. She complained that she was sexually abused for three days by an old man in her neighbourhood. So we sent her for series of other tests.”

The old man, who allegedly committed this crime, was first arraigned on May 13, 2015 on a one count charge of “defilement” of an under aged girl.
Although the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, he was ordered to be remanded in custody.
The Nation reports that the matter was adjourned until June 4 for cross-examination.
Earlier this month officials of the Lagos State police command conducted a successful operation and arraigned a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.
