NASS: Gbajabiamila Accepts Defeat, APC Lawmakers Attempt To Make Peace

An anonymous source informed Vanguard that these lawmakers were pledging their allegiance to Saraki and betraying Senator Ahmad Lawan because they want “juicy committees”.

In Nigeria’s National Assembly, lawmakers who initially expressed hostility towards Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara are now making reconciliatory moves in hopes of snagging lucrative Committee positions.

An anonymous source informed Vanguard that these lawmakers were pledging their allegiance to Saraki and betraying Senator Ahmad Lawan because they want “juicy committees”. Lawmakers who initially fiercely supported Senator Lawan are now crawling into the arms of Senator Saraki.

In the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, the candidate of the APC who lost to Dogara as Speaker of the House of Representatives has also pledged his allegiance to his former competitor, Dogara.

Speaking yesterday, Gbajabiamila and about 20 of his supporters said that they have accepted defeat.

He also rejected suggestions of any legal action against Dogara saying “Go to court for what?”

When asked if he supported the APC position to take disciplinary action he said, “Whatever the party decides to do, that is for the party. It is not for me.”

Meanwhile, the threat of sanctions against Senator Saraki and Speaker Dogara promised by the APC are yet to be communicated.
